and First Steps

Here you’ll find details about session fees, insurance coverage, and payment policies. If you have any questions, I’m always happy to talk it through.

Session Fees

You’ll find my session fees outlined below. If the rates here ever differ from what’s shown on my Jane booking page, the Jane page will always reflect the most accurate and up-to-date information. All counselling appointments are available in person at my private Langford office or online. When booking your appointment, please choose the option that best supports your comfort and well-being.

Individual Therapy

60 minutes: $150.00
75 minutes: $187.50
90 minutes: $225.00
120 minutes: $300.00

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

60 minutes: $160.00
75 minutes: $200.00
90 minutes: $240.00

Couples & Family Counselling

60 minutes: $160.00
75 minutes: $200.00
90 minutes: $240.00
120 minutes: $300.00

Payment

Prior to each session, kindly send your payment via e-transfer to jen@jenniferbrumcounselling.com. While e-transfer is preferred, I’m happy to accommodate credit card payments—just let me know in advance.

A Note About GST

As of December 20, 2024 the CRA has declared that psychotherapy provided by RCC’s and CCC’s will be GST exempt. There is no GST on my services. If you have any questions about this change, please don’t hesitate to reach out—I’m happy to explain further.

Insurance Coverage

I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor with BCACC (RCC #16540) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with CCPA (CCC #11252437). Most extended health plans in Canada provide coverage for counselling by RCC’s and/or CCC’s. I recommend checking with your provider to confirm your specific coverage.

Direct Billing

I no longer offer direct billing. Payment is due in full before each appointment by e-transfer (preferred) or credit card. You’ll receive a detailed receipt by email after each session, which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

Hours of Availability

My practice hours are Monday to Thursday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and I do not work on statutory holidays. I also prioritize self-care and may occasionally take time off. If I plan to be away for an extended period, I’ll notify clients in advance. For shorter breaks or vacations, you may simply notice limited availability in the Jane booking calendar on those days.

Scheduling Appointments

To make scheduling easy, I use the secure and convenient Jane App platform. Jane allows you to book, cancel, and reschedule appointments online, and sends helpful reminders before each session. From the app, you have the option to schedule either online or in-person appointments for the duration of your choice.
The Jane app also allows me to securely share messages, important handouts, and other information while maintaining my commitment to your confidentiality.

Cancellation Policy

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If a session is cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice or missed without notice, the full session fee will apply.

Preparing for In-Person Appointments

My private and confidential office is located on the lower level of my home at 1479 Commander Court, Westhills, Langford. When you arrive, please park at the end of the cul-de-sac, where free parking is available. Walk down the driveway and enter through the black gate on the right side of the house. Follow the stairs down and continue around the back, and you’ll find me in my office, ready to welcome you! There’s no need to knock—just come on in at your scheduled time.
Please arrive no earlier than your scheduled appointment time. I use the time between sessions to carefully attend to details of the previous client, return calls and emails, and to prepare thoughtfully for our time together. If you happen to arrive a little early, you’re welcome to wait in your car until your session begins. To help us honour both your time and mine, we’ll aim to wrap up around the 55-minute mark, giving us a few moments to close the session before you head out.

Preparing for Online Appointments

Please take a moment to carefully review the following:

  • Create a private space: Choose a quiet, comfortable location where you can speak freely without interruptions.
  • Optimize your internet connection: Close unnecessary programs and tabs, and ensure others who are sharing your internet connection aren’t streaming or downloading. A strong, secure internet connection is important.
  • Device setup: You can use a computer, tablet, or smartphone as long as it has a camera, microphone, and a strong internet connection. Time spent resolving technical issues will count as session time.
  • Headphones: While optional, they can enhance sound quality and provide extra privacy by preventing others from overhearing what I say.
  • Punctuality: It is important to be on time for your session. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please check the cancellation policy and notify me in advance by phone or email.
  • Back-up Plan: Provide an email or phone number where you can be reached if we need to restart or reschedule due to technical issues.
